Amber's Indian Epics Storybook: Introduction

ambersindianstorybook

I like the style of writing in this storybook.  Most that I have viewed so far are written in first person.  In my opinion, those types of stories that are harder to get into and enjoy.  I also like the fact that it's centered around the theme of love.  In the introduction to the story, a character states that,

"this [story] will show you both that love conquers all. Loaded dice and poor decisions do not mean that all is truly lost."

Stories featuring a romanticization of love itself always touch the reader on a deeper level. Themes that transcend cultures, age, and even interests are able to reach more individuals. I'm excited to read more about the love stories in another culture. I'm curious to know if there will be any parallels in the plot in other stories with the same genre. I've heard of a version of Cinderella originating from China, and there have been many stories that have been inspired by the famous Romeo and Juliet.

Gossip Girl: Ayodhya

Ayodhya

This has been one of the most niche and creative stories I've seen.  I really like that the writer intertwined two fictional universes and made the characters blend into one story.  Also, the fact that out of all the shows or movies they could've chosen, the writer decided to pick a modern, girly show.  It gives more insight about the author themselves, and as a blog post I think that it puts a nice personal touch on their blog.  Although I'm not a big fan of first-person narratives (as stated before), I feel like this story makes more sense due to the fact that it is modeled after a first-person show narrative.

The design of the page is also very clever, as it resembles the post of a modern, chic socialite.  This further blends the traditional Indian Epic with Gossip Girl.  The post features a clean look with white borders, and the cover picture is of a seaside city in India.  At the end of the introduction, or 'welcome' as it is labeled, there is also an image of red lipstick print.  Most definitely following the theme of Gossip Girl.  The ending of the post seals the deal with the infamous phrase from the show

"And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell...

xoxo Gossip Girl"

Indra: The Thunder God - The Vajra

TheVajra

This story is also written in third person. I think for this story that style is better. The story is about a god, an ancient being. A third-person narrative fits the story and the feeling of hearing a story from a grandparents that has been passed down through generations. The story is about a god of thunder. This theme of gods controlling the forces of nature has many similarities throughout several cultures. Zeus, the Greek god of the sky, Thor, the Norse god of thunder, to name a few share the same role as this Indian god. I like classic stories, and I feel like this is one that tells the legend well.
